By Abraham Babarinde
The season droops in autumn sear,
And the new leaves spring to die
Change is here, if you can’t hear
At least you see the face of the sky.
The cloud is losing It’s touch of blue,
Changing to the colour of the earth,
Whether it will turn back, I have no clue,
This pose big concern in my heart.
They promised liberty in our hardship,
So we gave them keys to our treasure,
But we are scared how they sail our ship,
They told us to be patient under pressure.
We have witnessed many deceptive words,
Can we still trust all these promises?
“Patience” when their decisions draw swords,
They say we don’t understand economics.
Nigerians wake up let’s act right,
Our true freedom is in our hands!
If these people can’t give us light,
Let us RISE to SAVE our LAND.
Synopsis:‘Wind of Change’ is an eposidic poem that aims at impacting, inciting critical thinking and re-awakening the lost consciousness of ‘participatory’ government. It also seeks to eliminate the disillusioned mentality of many Nigerians.
